1.      Why picked
a.      I picked this topic because I’m horrible with comma placement.
2.      Use a comma before a coordinating conjunction.
Conjunctions-and, or, but, nor, yet, for, so
Ex. This is a useful rule, but difficult to remember
3.      Use a comma after an introductory
Ex. Strangely, the Twins where able to re-sign Carl Pavano
4.      Use commas around words, phrases, and clauses in the middle of a sentence when they are essential to the sentence.
Ex. Catcher Joe Mauer, who is from Minnesota, is the best catcher in Major League Baseball.
5.      Commas are to be used in a series of items.
Ex. The frigid, snowy, dark, windy day was last Friday.
6.      Use commas before and after a quotation within a sentence.
Ex. Trevor said, “Jerome is the man.”
7.      Use commas to set of geographical names, items in date, and personal titles.
Ex. Barack Obama, President, is a great public speaker.
