Story-In-A-Box rough draft

Story-In-A-Box
It is crazy what a person can come across when there on a casual walk with their dog. Last Tuesday I took a walk along the Mississippi water bank, and had no idea what I had walked into. There were the casual nuts the would fall from the trees, so i picked on up and measured it with the ruler I had in my  back pocket. As i was playing catch with my dog I stumbled apron a small village, it looked like something a little kid had dropped. To my interest I dug a little deeper in to the earth and found a canoe that had been made out of bark, and a plate that had some funky looking colors on it.
I was interested as to what they where so I took the three items I had found and brought them to a pawn shop.  When I arrived some guy was trading in an African statue that had big ears. He claimed the statue had been in the family for 200 years but he needed the money to pay for bills. When it was my turn the clerk treated me with a friendly hello, and had me place my new valuables on a small piece of table cloth. It was a pretty interesting piece of fabric, it had red, green, and black colors on it.  The store keeper told me that the pieces I had found belong to a tribe that use to live along the river. He offered me two hundred and fifty dollars, so I accepted it since I had no other reason to keep what I found. The clerk wrote up a financial agreement so I couldn't go back on our deal. I signed and he took a granite looking stand to officially seal his signature. I took the money the store gave me and put it in my wallet that has all sorts of different animals on it.
Being all excited about the new investment I had, I tripped and broke a drummer boy and some creepy looking head. I was truly embarrassed, and insisted on paying for what I broke. The store keeper was a very nice guy and threw in a blow glass structure for my generosity. It was an interesting day to say the least and I'm grateful I went for a walk last Tuesday.
